was just curious, have been reading all the Sky Sports and sporting life articles on the fight and they all seem to think Eastman can take Hopkins. 19 people have spouted the same shit and have been beaten by Hopkins. What exactly makes Eastman any different?
Eastman obviously isn't going to take out hop by way of KO...unless Hopkins all of a sudden throws defense out the window and eats several power shots. Eastman will have to outwork Hopkins by throwing many punches...that's where Bernards counter punching comes into play. By the end of the fight, Eastmans punches are going to look like slaps because of the punishment Hopkins will deal him. I like Eastman to be a very game fighter through 8 or 9 rounds...then Nard will take over. I'm thinking Nard 8 rounds to Eastmans 4. Spinks knows that he's just spewing trash. He actually laughs after every word he writes. He knows that Hopkins is going to beat up Eastman like this :smashfrea
Define "chance". Certainly a better chance than De la Hoya did. Think back to the Echols challenges, and you'll have an idea for how I think of this fight...Not that Eastman and Echols are that similar, just that they have similar chances.
Another point I would like to throw in is that Eastman is one of the very few actual Middleweights that Hopkins has faced in a LONG time. Hopkins is usually fighting guys who come in at 156-160 and weigh-in around 163-165. I could easily see Eastman coming in at 160 and ballooning up to the low 170 mark, Physically Eastman will be stronger than a lot of Hopkins mouth.
Yeah,I said in a earlier thread that there's a good chance Eastman floors B-Hop in this fight for that same reason.I cant see Eastman knocking out Hopkins,so if it goes to the cards, the judges will screw it up in favor of Hopkins. It's a closer fight IMO,than alot of people think.

Plus as posted earlier, Hopkins says at 40 he trains like he is 40 and he is slipping a bit.....Since when in the hell does Hopkin ever mention things like this? He even admitted his training is lacking for this fight, Dont get upset if Nard lost and Eastman beat Joppy's ass for the record and the knockdown in the last round was no flash one either, Eastman caught him with a pretty good punch.
Yeah I give Eastman a shot. He's a tough nut who went through tough times (tougher than what Bhop went through) and he's got the thirst. Bhop is taking him lightly and said he's a B-level fighter. This is a bad sign for a disciplined guy like Nard. Let me remind you of these...
RJJ vs Glen J - brutal KO
Lewis vs Rahman 1
"Why are there a lot of people in the ring?" - Lewis muttering groggily after they helped him get up after the KO.
Leonard vs Duran 1 - shoulda boxed and not brawled
Im picking Eastman, I think Bernard is making a mistake and underestimates him. Please people dont come back with "Bullshit Hopkins takes every fight serious and this is the BIG one." Well I have never heard Hopkins trash a fighter the way he is Eastman before a fight. Hopkins always spoke highly of his opponents and says that they posed a threat, HELL Hopkins was even caught quoting that Morrade was a threat before the fight happened. I think Hopkins is underestimating this guy, I dont like the fact that Hopkins who always trains in Miami switched over to California so he can take care of business with Golden Boy Promotions
Hopkins calling Eastman a B-Level fighter, is not Hopkins...Hell you think Hopkins would be like "Shit Eastman is the dangerous man out their" since it IS his 20th defense and possibly last fight at Middleweight.
Hopkins opting out of Miami and training in California so he can handle business with GBP
Plus their is always the EA Curse, You know Glen was just a journey man tune-up for Tarver.
Ohh did I mention, Eastman probably has the most durable chin compared to any other fighter Hopkins has faced? To top it off, The man punches like he has cement gloves with anvil hands? Plus the Battersea bomber is coming with Heart.
My money is on Eastman, anyone thinks otherwise check out the betting forum.
nice...very nice. Took the words right out of my mouth. What did it for me is when B-hop called him a B-level fighter. I've never heard him say that. He even admitted in teh press-conf that he was getting lazy.

Spinks man give me some of that shiznit yer smokin it must be FLAME!
:hitit:
Most durable chin? come on man, Echols, Holmes, Allen, Brown, Trinidad, De La Hoya, Jones Jr. Hopkins has fought better competition all the way around. Eastman was beat by Joppy, granted he floored joppy in the final round, now he's spouting off excuses about him " toying " w/ Joppy. It's prof. Boxing, not fuckin wrestling, you don't toy with another man who could mame or worse end your life. Eastman's mouth is writing checks his ass won't be able to cash. HOPKINS BY UN. DEC
I honestly give Eastman a shot. Hopkins is getting old (he is 40 now) and you never know when age will sneak up on you. Eastman has skills and punches hard with both hands so it won't be as easy as people think (I said that of Henry Bruseles and look where that got me, lol).
Eastman has a puncher's chance, just like anyone else, but my money is on Nard. I'd give 5:2 odds on Hopkins if I were a bookie.
ok unless the day of the fight
some british scientist finds a way to
make someone very old.
Hopkins is not gonna get old that fast :boxing:
There is always the chance for an upset, but it's called an upset because everyone already has an idea of who will win this fight.
Superfight? Nah, superhype.

Only if Hopkins gets old on that night. In other words not really. Also, Hopkins is a straight up boxer. He relies on his intellect and learned skill, not hand and foot speed which are the primary things to go with age.

I'd say Eastmans chances are slim and none at beating Hopkins, Eastmans a pretty good fighter but hes going to get taken apart by one of the best middleweights to come around in a long while. :boxing:
