If RJ beat Ruiz, Toney kills him. Toney is mobile, technical, and fights well on the inside. He has enough power to hurt Ruiz and a chin to take what shots Ruiz manages to land in between trying to hug him. Make your call.
I just think that Ruiz is too slow to hammer Toney with multiple power shots if any. Ruiz ain't a big enough hitter to take down Toney with one shot either. That left hook body, uppercut combo is going to haunt Ruiz all night. I was surprised by some of the shots Ruiz hit Golota with...I don't see him getting those kinds of wide swinging shots in on JT.
If Toney beats Ruiz I would give him as much credit I gave Jones for beating Ruiz. I'd give him more credit if he beats Ruiz and actually goes on and beats any of the other champions.
Well we all knew that Jones wasn't going to stay at HW and try to take down the other guys in the division. I don't think Toney has intentions of leaving HW anytime soon.
The question is...if Toney beats Ruiz...will he finally get credit for beating a REAL heavyweight? Or will his critics still call him an unproven heavyweight who hasn't taken a real heavyweight punch and will get knocked out cold by a real HW?

I'm not sold on Toney at heavyweight like most people are so I'll say Ruiz by boring decision. Something about Ruiz and his clinching style gets the best of his opponents.
I think Ruiz will fare better than many think. First of all, Toney is not a very mobile fighter like RJJ was, and his handspeed is nowhere near as impressive. Toney had a great chin at middle and cruiserweight, but Ruiz is a heavyweight and he has a decent punch when he wants to use it. I think Ruiz's awkward punch and grab style will get to Toney like it has the majority of his previous opponents. Let's not forget the huge disparity in strength. If Ruiz is strong enough to tie up Golota, who is a powerhouse, what chance does a short lardbucket like Toney have of holding his own in the clinches?
It's going to take a taller, much stronger man like Vitali to take Ruiz out of the picture. Toney lacks the size, the strength, and the punch.
Toney isnt quick enough on his feet to keep Ruiz away, Fast hands? Maybe but Toney doesnt have a tremendous reach either to keep Ruiz off. Ruiz my Unanimous Decision in another ugly fight.
The only guys to beat Ruiz are fighters who are quick on their feet and fight on the outside (jones) and possess a peek a boo style, or one who can hit really hard.
Toney is neither.
Toney will put lots of pressure on Ruiz and get fed up with his huggy bear tactics. Likely a bit of wrestling and lots of pleading glances at the ref from Ruiz culminating in a late fight stoppage.
