Hatton is back in form with impressive demolition of Stewart.
Hatton dropped Stewart with a body shot early in round 1, then clubbed him to the ground at the end of the round with an overhand right. Rounds 2,3,4 were all Stewart on the defense he ran around and looked like he needed a fire escape. Round 5 Hatton lands 3 fast left hooks to put Stewart on his pants and out of the fight.
Top result from Hatton who will now meet the winner of Tsu, Mitchell.....
When I had Fox Sports World, I'd stop on the soccer matches periodically. Just not for me, I guess. I like hockey better. If I'm going to see a 0-0 game, I want fast action and dudes hitting each other with sticks!
I'm not suprised, soccer is shit! its a load of girly pussy men kicking a ball around a field.
I have never heard anyone knock basketball, its a good sport! But Baseball and American football on the other hand are very boring!! England will never want to be good at them sports!! But i you like them, keep them.
England play football and are one of the best teams, Rugby world champions, beating everyone at cricket and let not forget darts ha ha!! were good at UK sports like America are good at American sports.
The UK competes at everything and for such a small nation we do very well.
I'm not trying to disrespect America, the country is set up to win in at every sport! you go to college for being good at sport for fuck sake!! if your are good a sports in the UK you get sent to work at 16yrs old and do sports part time!!
My message was only pointing out a couple of interesting stats. It would be interesting to see how many boxing gyms America has compared to the UK. It would be even more interesting to see how many people box in America compared to the UK! I'd bet the ratio is a lot higher than 5:1.
You cant use PR and Mexico is this debate, them countrys are poor and have to fight!! Medina was fighting pro at 12yrs old or something daft like that, Lads from the UK and US were picking spots and dating girls at the movies at that age!! The UK and US are both rich countrys who dont need to fight for money.
P.s. if you want to see robots then look at Ruiz, Tarver, Allen etc :o !
Cultural differences exist so there are emphasis on different sports. Social differences also affect what sport athletes pursue. Rich kids rarely become fighters - they've got money for tennis rackets, golf clubs, or baseball equipment - all sports that don't involved getting hit in the head so damn much!
I like that ShoBox makes it over to England every couple months. Through that channel, I've been able to see a number of fighters in the arena that says "Fight Skool" over the ring. And Ricky Hatton fans are probably the best boxing fans, period.
What a great environment.
Now football - you guys's football - I just can't get into it. But I also post at IMDB sports board and that's the single most talked about sport. There's only a couple boxing fans on that one, but during a 0-0 game involving two teams with the word "United", there's all kinds of chatter.

Notice i never said "US" i said north america, when i said that, i included mexico/puerto rico.
The fact is, north america has put out more memorable champions and more memorable fighters than the UK has, or ever will.
Not to mention, unlike the UK, we dont simply play 1 sport on the mainstream (futbol) we play alot of sports.
The thing is, the united kingdom is the biggest bunch of naysayers ive ever seen, You people cuss basketball claiming its "just another american made sport we can win at and only we play it" when its played all over the world, and is largly popular in europe all over the world period, with pros playing in our NBA right now from all different countries.
Then you people cuss baseball, diss the world series because "its not a world series if only america plays it" when again, baseball has players from all over latin america/asia playing and starring in the league as well.
The point of this is that the UK simply specializes in one sport, while north america specializes in many. Even if your ratio of boxers is REMOTELY a plausible argument (which it isnt, since the UK produces about 1 or 2 top fighters right now, and basically i never said the US alone, i said North america) the reality is, even your 2 top calzaghe/hatton continue to hold question marks as to how good they actually stack up against the competition in their respective divisions, due to the fact that they basically never leave england, and keep fighting a bunch of a bums for the most part.
So even if north america has this undercut ratio of fighters, who cares, we play ALOT of different sports at a high level, and specialize in more than just futbol.

5 times as many people and only 2 times as many top 10 fighters. How can anyone say US have better fighters!?!?

Its holds its own easily. Considering how pro sport America is and how poorly funded UK sport is i'm shocked at the stats!
The population ratio is 5:1 in favour of America.
In an independant world ratings the ratio between UK and America top 10 fighters is 2:1 in favour of America.
I know independant world ranking(US site) are someones opinion but it goes to show UK fighter hold there own.

We have the better fighters, guess its coz UK gys dont have shit in the brains and lead in there pants.... :-) rolf only jokein...
what a point there elveiel..... what that actually states is we are twice as good as america in terms of ratio
number of people in the countries: number of top ten contenders
the uk is only the size of florida
I think you will actally find when a comparision is drawn, that taking into acount the size of the comparative countries and fighters in each i.e UK and the US, then the UK holds its own very nicely.

Hopefuly we will find out who's the daddy very soon!! Its seems like Tarver and Johnson dont want to risk the Calzaghe fight so Frank Warren is speaking to Lacys people about the fight.
Lacy has shown Calzaghe a lot of respect in the past and he's now at the stage where he should get a shot at the divisions number 1 fighter.
I hope lacy wasnt calling Joe out because he knew he was going to move to light heavy, lets hope the fight happens.
I think Lacy knows if he doesn't get Calzaghe that before long people will say the same thing about him. They'll say, yeah he's held the belt a while, but who's he fought? This way the winner gets credit for beating a name fighter, and the loser still gets acquitted because they lost to someone credible.
Eubank was washed up when he fought Calzaghe. By the time he fought Joe, he was a 12-year pro would would never win another fight.
Calzaghe didn't beat Mitchell. The ref did.
Reid was coming off of a loss to a guy with 10 losses 2 fights before.
What's also interesting is that Mitchell and Woodhall fought Calzaghe as their last pro fight. Like they knew they were done, but they knew they could take one more payday.
So who is Jeff Lacy? He's Calzaghe's daddy if the two ever meet in the ring. He's the guy with the real belt. He's the guy willing to fight Calzaghe in Calzaghe's yard because Joe won't leave it. He's the future of the division, that's who.

He willing to fight Calzaghe in his own yard.....great, is that not a stipulation of the champion?! I should think he is... he gets a shot at the belt and the number 1 in the division, if Lacy wins then the same rule will apply.
Don't start the Harris Hatton argument as its totally diferent!
In regard to your comments about European fighters and lack of head movement, in part I would tend to agree, however I not talking about European fighters in general I talking about British fighters, in this instance Hatton. I think you will actally find when a comparision is drawn, that taking into acount the size of the comparative countries and fighters in each i.e UK and the US, then the UK holds its own very nicely.
Eubank, Reid, Mitchell and Woodhall were all bigger fights than Lacy. If i could be bothered to check i'm sure there would be a lot more fights that are bigger than Lacy!! Who is Lacy? Who's he beat? Vanderpool was a good win but Green is a much bigger threat to Calzaghe.

a win over Lacy would be BY FAR the best win of Calzaghe's career, but dont expect Calzaghe to fight anyone with a pulse anytime soon.

Hatton does have talent and he does fight in an entertaining style, but until he is willing to come over here he will continue to get disrepected by American fight fans. Fact is he has done nothing to deserve respect in the boxing world. Hatton has been living off Sharmba leftovers Tackie, Phillips and now Stewart in the last two years.
Same as Joe Calzaghe, he needs to come here and prove himself.
Calzaghe has proved himself the best fighter at his weight, would beating up Lacy prove anything? Lacy himself knows Calzaghe is the number 1, he also knows he will have the travel for a shot at him.
Maybe you have watched a couple to many German fights!! I see no diffence between UK and American fighters, the syles are very similar.
the fact that fighters from the americas dominate the rankings for the most part should speak for itself. as many european fighters there are, how many of them have been or are regarded as legends in comparison to north american born fighters (like i said, including mexico/puerto rico etc)
If the style is that similar, why is it so ineffective when they actually have to fight over here?

the fact is, european fighters have an inferior, robotic, no head movement whatsoever style that hampers them when they come to fight over here. Im personally impressed with VERY FEW european fighters, and it shows, the fact is, north america (mexico/puerto ricco etc included) has the best fighters, hands down. And the styles generally used by americans/latinos are usually quicker and simply more effective than those trained by european fighters generally speaking.
Pretty much you take a european fighter out of europe his chances of success are very very slim. But i do like a few, i do like ricky hatton, and i do like felix sturm, and a few others whom i cant remember, but the rankings and the styles show me, that european fighters in general just dont have the style to win here.
You cant say we need to tone our ego down, when our continent contains damn near all the champions, and the frankly, the best damn fighters period.

I see you have the attitude too! best damn fighters period! :p
http://www.secondsout.com/World/champions.cfm
Look for yourself ^ its a equal mix of champions from everywhere in the world.
Not all American have the same ego but u do!
I agree with pinkpanther, he's hit the nail on the head!!
Some Americans only rate fighters who come to them, if Cotto was fighting in germany they would say he's beating up bums and is overated!
As a whole i like American fight fans but there are some who need to tone their ego down and show a little respect!!

I agree to an extent but I dont think you are right to aim all this at our american friends here, theres been plenty of british giving hatton just as much shit.
nationality in this instance I dont think comes into it, I mean cotto isnt an American fighter so why would they praise him to the detriment of hatton?
The frustration has come in the length of time and amount of failed fights but hopefully this is to be rectified.
keeping my fingers crossed I fancy a boys night out at the MEN for a proper world title.
