ACCORDING TO Carlos Baldomir, he signed a document, accepting the WBA belt. “I sent it by mail and fax, too”, says Baldomir. “But, I never received an answer. And nobody told me I am not the WBA champion”.

BALDOMIR accepts the WBA's statement. “Yes, its true, I said I won't pay the sanctions, because it was a lot of money for me. I only agreed to pay the WBC to be their champion. So, if I must only be the WBC champion, it’s no problem. In the ring, with the gloves, I defeated Judah who was WBC, WBA and IBF champion of the world”.

On JULY 22, Baldomir says that he will defend his title against Arturo Gatti. “My manager, Zapata, called me from Los Angeles. I will take an insurance of 50% of my purse, because of Arturo's surgery on one of his hands, so if the fight is postponed, I will have retribution. The fight will be at Las Vegas or New York, I don’t know”.

We spoke to him a bit about Gatti. “He’s a strong fighter, a colorful fighter, to beat him will be very important for me. I suppose he is easy to hit, but I respect him very much and I only think about winning that fight, because in the future I could fight with Judah, again, or Mayweather or De La Hoya. Those names means a lot of money.”

He has a lot of time for to begin to train, but he will start next week.

“The Gatti bout is on July, and I will be around two months before at Los Angeles, at La Brea gym, so I have a plenty of time. I have not the WBA title, but I am the WBC champion, and all the people know I defeated Judah in the ring, and is what really counts. Im only thinking about Gatti. To defeat him will prove that the Judah fight was not a bad night for him, but a good night for me”.
