Frank Warren's show planned for the ExCeL London on Friday December 9 - joint-headlined by James DeGale and George Groves in separate championship fights - has been switched to the Liverpool Echo Arena on the same date.
New Interim WBO World Lightweight Champion Ricky Burns says it's too close to call between domestic rivals Anthony Crolla and Willie Limond in their big British Lightweight title showdown.
Former WBO World Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Maccarinelli has stepped up to headline the bill at the Queensberry Promotions show on 18th November at York Hall following the unfortunate withdrawal of John Simpson due to a viral infection. Maccarinelli will make his debut at Light Heavyweight and will face unbeaten Hungarian Gyorgy Marosi, who is hot property after winning every fight of his 12 fight career, with 8 of these wins coming by knockout. The fight will be shown live and exclusive on BoxNation (Sky platform 456).
British Lightweight Champion Anthony Crolla says that he will scupper Willie Limond's plans of a history-making all-Scottish world title showdown against Ricky Burns.
Rival super-middleweights George Groves and James DeGale will joint-headline a big fight card at the ExCeL London on Friday 9th December, LIVE and exclusive on BoxNation (Sky Platform Ch. 456).
Glasgow's Willie Limond is targeting a history-making world title showdown against Ricky Burns. Burns became Scotland's first two-weight world champion in nearly twenty years when he beat Australian great Michael Katsidis to capture the Interim WBO World title at Wembley Arena on Saturday night. Limond takes on British Lightweight Champion Anthony Crolla on Friday 25th November at the Ravenscraig Centre in Motherwell, live on BoxNation (Sky Platform Ch. 456), but has an eye on facing Burns after. It would be the first time two Scottish fighters have fought for a world title. "I was really happy to see Burns beat Katsidis and I thought he put on a great performance to beat one of the world's top lightweights," said Limond.
MICHAEL KATSIDIS 28-4 (23 KO’s) believes that Ricky Burns 32-2 (9) is the most dangerous opponent he could have faced when he meets the Scot in two weeks time at Wembley Arena for the interim WBO lightweight title.
Newly crowned British and Commonwealth featherweight champion Lee Selby will make the first defense of his titles at York Hall on the 18th November against John Simpson. The bout is part of another action packed event from George and Francis Warren’s Queensberry Promotions which will be LIVE and exclusive on the UK’s new home boxing, BoxNation. The 24 year old Selby (11-1, 3KO) from Barry in Wales claimed both belts with a sensational 8th round knockout against the heavily fancied Stephen Smith in September. Simpson (22-8, 9KO) of Greenock, Scotland has previously held both belts in the past, conceding both to Smith in separate bouts.
Paul Smith 31-2 (17 KO’s) has nothing on his mind but determination to win back his British title from George Groves 13-0 (10). Smith takes on Groves for the British and Commonwealth super-middleweight belts, on the Ricky Burns vs. Michael Katsidis bill, at Wembley Arena on November 5 and is aiming to spoil the plans of Frank Warren’s new signing. The former British champion is not fazed by the glitz and glamour that surrounds his first fight on LIVE only on BoxNation and has nothing but victory on his mind to recapture the belt he had lost to James DeGale last December, “I want my title back. Regardless of the venue or where it is shown. I wouldn’t care if this fight was behind closed doors. I am just aiming to win this, nothing else is on my mind.”
Former WBO World Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Maccarinelli will be watching the man who now holds his title, Marco Huck, in action tonight.
