The World Boxing Association has ordered Panama's Guillermo Jones (38-3-2, 30KOs), holder of the WBA's cruiserweight championship, and the challenger Lateef Kayode (18-0, 14KOs) of Nigeria, to reach an agreement.
Ukrainian promotional company Union Boxing Promotions won today's scheduled purse bid at the WBA's offices in Panama, with respect to their boxer Vyacheslav Senchenko, the WBA's welterweight champion. The champion has to face his mandatory challenger Paul Malignaggi. The purse bid was led by Gilberto Jesus Mendoza, the Executive Vice President of the WBA. Union's offer $1,000,010 - far exceeding the $250,000 submitted by Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya. Senchenko-Malignaggi will take place in Donetsk, Ukraine on April 27, 28 or 29th.
The World Boxing Association has ordered a purse bid for a middleweight championship fight between the organization's "regular" champion Gennady Golovkin (22-0, 19KOs) of Kazakhstan and interim-champion Hassan N'Dam N'jikam (26-0, 17KOs) of France. The Executive Committee of the World Boxing Association, which held a meeting in San José, Costa Rica, approved a direct rematch between Panamanian Celestino "Pelenchin" Caballero and featherweight champion Jonathan Barros. The WBA approved the protest which was submitted by Caballero and his team, after he suffered a controversial decision loss to Barros on July 2 at the Polideportivo La Colonia in Junín, Mendoza, Argentina. Starting on July 30, the two sides have 120 days to stage the fight.
