O2 Arena, London - Scouse super-welterweight Anthony Fowler continued his education in the professional ranks with an excellent fifth round stoppage over previously unbeaten Frenchman Kalilou Dembele (now 6-1-2).
O2 Arena, London - Dereck Chisora, who had been in negotiations for a possible crossroads match on the Haye vs Bellew bill with Joe Joyce warmed up here with a second round knockout over Frenchman Zakaria Azzouzi
The early undercard at London’s O2 arena featured a mix of learning fights for young prospects and keep-busy run-outs for returning contenders. Super-bantamweight debutants Louie Lynn and Michael Horobin opened the show in a scheduled four rounder, with switch-hitting Lynn the sharper and busier boxer stopping a bloodied Horobin on his feet in the second. ‘Loco’, from Banstead in Surrey, looks like one to watch.
The homecoming turned sour for defending IBF super middleweight champion James Degale as rank American outsider Caleb Truax won a deserved majority decision here at London’s Copper Box arena. A London crowd who’d waited a long time to cheer DeGale as champion chanted his name as he threw a hard left-right combination to the challenger’s body, but Traux continued pressing and hurt the champion towards the end of the fourth.
Copper Box Arena, London - In a battle for the WBO European light heavyweight title, Anthony Yarde (14-0, 13 KOs) secured the biggest win of his career with a fourth round stoppage of veteran Nikola Sjekloca (32-5-1, 11 KOs) - who had never been stopped in the past.
A number of Frank Warren's prospects enjoyed useful run-outs before the holiday season in the pre-television section of the big Copper Box show here in London. Harvey Horn started proceedings with a three-round stoppage on his debut at flyweight against 1-0 Czech Denis Bartos over four rounds. Bartos’ corner complained about the stoppage but with their man under sustained fire in the corner it was a good decision.
Forty seven year old former WBA cruiserweight champ Firat Arslan (now 41-8-2) knocked out Argentinian Alejandro Emilio Valori (now 24-13) with a brutal left hook in round seven to leave the visitor crumpled on the canvas here in Stuttgart. British fans may remember Valori from a fourth round defeat to recently retired Nathan Cleverly.
Copper Box, London - lford’s Anthony Yarde (now 12-0) won the lightly regarded WBO European title at light-heavyweight with a brutal first round knockout of Hungarian Richard Baranyi. It was Baranyi's first venture away from his homeland and a spiteful right hand floored the visitor in the first round. Bravely rising to fight on, sickening follow up punches from Yarde saw the referee stop the fight.
Copper Box, London - Touted heavyweight prospect “Dynamite" Daniel Dubois (now 4-0) continued his professional education with a predictable knockout of Uruguayan Mauricio Barragan (15-2).
