The contracts for the WBC heavyweight championship between Vitali Klitschko and Odlanier Solis have been signed this week. The fight will take place on March 19th at Cologne’s Lanxess Arena. Solis’ promoter Ahmet Oner is looking forward to the fight and convinced that his fighter will end the Klitschko’s reign.

After a promising start, negotiations between K2 / KMG on the one side and ARENA Sports-Promotion on the other side for the WBC heavyweight championship between Vitali Klitschko and mandatory challenger Odlanier Solis seem to have stagnated.

Welterweight KO-artist Selcuk Aydin is currently training in Miami to prepare for his great goal of dethroning WBC champion Andre Berto. Right before the weigh-in promoter Ahmet Öner changed the main event for tomorrow’s "Battle at the Baltic Sea“ again. German heavyweight contender Konstantin "Sandman“ Airich (16-2-2) will face Gbenga "Bang Bang“ Oloukun (18-6-0) instead of Levan Jomardashvili from Georgia (20-1). The last-minute replacement became necessary when unbeaten Turk Yakup Saglam (26-0) pulled out of the fight on short notice.

Bad news for boxing fans in Stralsund for tomorrow’s "Battle at the Baltic Sea“. Unbeaten Turkish heavyweight Yakup Saglam (26-0) had to pull out of his PABA championship bout aganist German contender Konstantin Airich (16-2-2). According to his trainer and manager Detlef Loritz, Saglam is down and out with fever and gastric flu. Airich will still be the main event fighter against last-minute replacement Levan Jomardashvili (20-1) from Georgia.

The 48th WBC Convention in Cancun (Mexico) saw a very emotional meeting on Wednesday when mandatory title defenses and final elimination bouts were on the agenda. The controversy started when Tom Loeffler (K2 Promotions) brought in a request on behalf of heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko. Klitschko asked for a voluntary title defense in March 2011 (against Tomasz Adamek at New York’s Madison Square Garden celebrating the 40th anniversary of Ali vs. Frazier I) before facing his next mandatory challenger which will be determined in a final elimination bout between Odlanier Solis and Ray Austin on December 17th in Miami.

One of the most discussed questions at Pearl Theatre at The Palms Casino Resorts in Las Vegas after Yuriorkis Gamboa’s impressive unanimous decision win over Mexico’s Orlando Salido had nothing to do with the scoring of the judges (116-109, 115-109, 114-109) but with Gamboa’s style. Fans and experts argued whether they had seen a "new Gamboa" (as HBO’s Max Kellermann supposed) or the "same old fighter" with the same old flaws and sometimes sloppy defense.

Unbeaten Turkish welterweight star Selcuk Aydin is on collision course with WBC champion Andre Berto. But does ARENA’s „Mini-Tyson“ feel he is ready for the big shot yet and what does he say about his performance in his last fight against „Jo-Jo“ Dan back in June? Let’s ask him...

After Tomasz Adamek’s decision win over Michael Grant this weekend ARENA CEO Ahmet Öner suggests Adamek to fight his Cuban heavyweight sensation Odlanier Solis next.
