WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman is staying firm that the winner of this weekend's bout between WBC middleweight titlist Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (46-1-1, 32KOs) and British challenger Amir Khan (31-3, 19KOs), which takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, has an obligation to face their interim champion, Gennady Golovkin (35-0, 32KOs), next.

"The WBC has made it clear to respect this fight, we are a few days before 'Canelo' fights Khan and we will see what happens,"said Sulaiman on Wednesday morning from the MGM Grand.

"I mean, Khan could win the fight. The ruling is that the winner is committed to fighting Gennady Golovkin."

As for the process that will take place after the fight on Saturday night, Sulaiman stated - "We're going to begin the negotiation period the week after the fight."

There will be a thirty day period of negotiations. If either Alvarez or Khan doesn't come to an agreement, they will hand over the WBC belt to Golovkin.

"I don't want to say it like that, all I'm saying is we're going to have a fight 'Canelo-Khan' and the winner has to fight Golovkin. It's simple, that's the facts, that's the rules,"stated Sulaiman.
