Frank Warren isn’t usually complimentary of Anthony Joshua and his opponents.

That’s an accepted part of the boxing business for rival promoters in the United Kingdom, where Warren represents lineal heavyweight champion Tyson Fury and Eddie Hearn works with Joshua. Warren is especially leery of Jarrell Miller, though, and his chances of truly testing Joshua in their heavyweight championship match June 1 at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Warren expects Joshua to beat Miller convincingly in the British superstar’s debut in the United States. He discussed the Joshua-Miller fight with BoxingScene.com following a press conference Monday in London to discuss Fury’s new co-promotional agreement with Bob Arum’s Top Rank Inc.

“Well, it’s an easy fight,” Warren said. “They’ve decided to go down that road. What do I think of it? I think you would think that Joshua’s gonna be a big, odds-on favorite. I mean Tyson said himself – I was talking to today, that he had sparred with [Miller]. He said he had [Miller] on the floor seven times, so that tells you all you need to know.”

Warren didn’t specify how many separate sparring sessions Fury informed him it took to knock down Miller seven times. Fury’s promoter didn’t mention where or when those sparring sessions took place, either.

The 30-year-old Miller (23-0-1, 20 KOs) has developed into a heavyweight contender over the past 18 months. The Brooklyn native has beaten veterans Gerald Washington, Mariusz Wach, Johann Duhaupas, Tomasz Adamek and Bogdan Dinu since he ended an 11-month layoff by stopping Washington after eight rounds in July 2017 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

In the 6-feet-6, 245-pound Joshua, the trash-talking Miller will face by far the most imposing opponent of his career.

The 29-year-old Joshua (22-0, 21 KOs) will make the seventh defense of the IBF title he won by knocking out American Charles Martin in the second round of their April 2017 bout at O2 Arena in London. The 2012 Olympic gold medalist also will defend his IBO, WBA and WBO championships against Miller.

The Joshua-Miller match will be streamed by DAZN in the United States. It also will be offered via pay-per-view in the United Kingdom by Sky Sports Box Office.

A press conference to kick off the Joshua-Miller promotion is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon at Madison Square Garden.
