Jarrell Miller lost his hairpiece but won on points in New York’s Madison Square Garden.

Miller defeated Kingsley Ibeh by a split decision to improve his record to 27-1-2 (22 KOs), but mid-fight saw his hairpiece was coming loose and then he launched it playfully into the crowd.

After the bout, the 37-year-old New Yorker told Chris Mannix: “I got to my mumma’s house and she had some shampoo under her table and I shampooed it and it was like ammonia and bleach, I only lost my hair like two days ago, so I called my manager and told him to get me one of those manes and Ibeh knocked that shit off.

“As I said before, it’s funny, man. I’m a comedian. You’ve got to make fun of yourself. The rush was definitely there. Ibeh was strong. I want to get back in the gym and I want to stay active because compared to the [Andy] Ruiz fight [his last bout in August 2024], it was definitely harder to catch my groove in this fight. I took some shots you don’t want to take, but at the end of the day it’s boxing. We’re trying to fight next month.”

Miller said Tyson Fury had offered him the chance to go to Thailand and train with him and the big Englishman prepares for his return bout against Arslanbek Makhmudov in April.

In an interview with the Ring later in the evening, Miller said of losing his hair: “[I’m] 36, three kids, a divorce, you lose a lot of money, shit like this happens.”

Asked about the moment the hairpiece came loose, he said: “I felt like a breeze, is that the motherfucking hair?”

“I looked up and the camera [big screens] and it was, “Oh shit.”

With that, he pulled the toupee off and threw it into the crowd.

“I said fuck it. Let’s go with it.”

There have been numerous sightings of the toupee on social media since, with Mauricio Sulaiman, Fabio Wardley and Skye Nicolson all posting pictures of it.
