Malik Scott, trainer for former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder, expects his boxer to stop Anthony Joshua in the early rounds.

The two sides are hoping to finalize a deal for a high stakes showdown in the month of January in Saudi Arabia.

Joshua was back in the ring last Saturday night at the O2 Arena in London, where he knocked out Robert Helenius in the seventh round.

Wilder has been out of the ring since last October, when he knocked out Helenius in the first round at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. There is some talk of taking a potential stay-busy fight in the month of October.

Joshua is now training with veteran coach Dereck James, who is best known as the coach for Errol Spence, Jermell Charlo, Ryan Garcia and Frank Martin. The bout against Helenius was their second bout together. Joshua began his working relationship with James back in April, with the British star picking up a twelve round unanimous decision over Jermaine Franklin.

Over the last few years, Joshua has become more of a thinking man's boxer - but that's exactly what Scott predicts will be his downfall when he steps in the ring with Wilder.

“I know that [Joshua] only has three or four rounds in the ring with Deontay Wilder before he gets knocked out. AJ wants to overthink and sit back and play that game, and we’re not gonna allow that. Deontay’s coming to send him to the next dimension, and that’s his intention. When he’s not punching at you, he’s punching through you. The difference is the violent aspect; Deontay is way more violent with his hips and bad-intention punches than AJ will ever be," Scott told the October Red YouTube channel.
