Kevin Anton believes his next fight is the one that will make people take notice of the 6ft 3 ins southpaw junior middleweight.

Anton faces Isaias Lucero on Saturday in an eight-round junior middleweight bout at the Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee, Florida.

Anton, 11-0 (10 KOs), turned professional in 2019, but given his unique size for the division and ability to overwhelm opponents, it hasn’t been easy staying active until this year. Anton will fight for the fourth time in 2025, which is the most active the 27-year-old from Palmdale, California, has ever been. Anton, trained by Samuel Contreras, is looking to make the most of it.

“I am like a champagne bottle. I am ready to pop out,” Anton told BoxingScene. “It is just a matter of time, and I think this fight will help me achieve that.”

Lucero, 19-3 (13 KOs), last fought in March, losing a split decision to Vladimir Hernandez in a “Fight of the Year” type bout on ProBox TV. Lucero, a 29-year-old from Tijuana, Mexico, has never been stopped as a professional, with two of his three losses coming by way of split decision.

“It is a good step-up,” Anton said. “It allows me to prove myself.”

Anton hopes the fight leads to getting attention, as he has floated under the radar for nearly a half-decade.

“I hope to be more noticed and really stand out with my performances,” Anton said. “That will get me to the level I want to compete at.”

Anton confessed that some of his toughest times as a professional have been finding opponents to face.

“It has always been hard, like I told you in the last interview; it has always been a factor,” Anton said. “Being a lefty, a taller fighter, a lot of people don’t want to go up against that early in their career.”

His solution is simple: take the best fights he can to move up the rankings with the sanctioning bodies. He hopes that Saturday is the start of a run he has been waiting for since he turned professional.

“I want to put on a great performance, one that stands out compared to the other fighters he has faced,” Anton said. “I want to separate myself from his past fights and opponents, and get my name out there.”
