New York, New York - Polish heavyweight contender Artur Spzilka envisioned his title opportunity right after his October fight in Newark, NJ. It was sort of his New Year’s resolution.
On Saturday night he gets his wish when he challenges Deontay Wilder (35-0, 34KOs) for the World Boxing Council heavyweight championship at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
“It’s awesome. I can’t wait and it’s my dream,” Spzilka told BoxingScene.com. “I had my idea and my future set for me and things I wanted to do for the year and I wanted to fight Deontay Wilder. My number one plan is going to kick his ass. He talk sh*t every time. I’m angry and now I can’t wait.”
The two had a shoving match at the World Trade Center just a day ago. But the shoving match will have no impact on Spzilka’s mindset come Saturday night.
“I’m not sure who started it but he talks sh*t,” explained Spzilka. “I’m ready to fight today, tomorrow. When I kick his ass on Saturday, no one’s going to say anything. Everything is good and nothing changed. It’s boxing, sometimes you don’t know what happen and it happens.”
Spzilka still believes Wilder chin has not been tested but promises he will come Saturday night. Wilder was buzzed and his legs got rocked during his first defense of the title last year against Eric Molina. Wilder recovered and came back to knock Molina out in brutal fashion.
“Of course I don’t believe his chin is not great. He’s going to be open. I don’t want to talk too much and I know what the taste of defeat is. I just want to beat him,” Szpilka said.
