A small group of reporters recently spoke to middleweight contender "King" Gabriel Rosado (22-9) about his upcoming fight against the once beaten Antonio Gutierrez (20-1). Rosado and Gutierrez will do battle at the StubHub Center in Southern California on Saturday.
The Philadelphia native Rosado hooked up with trainer and former champion Fernando "Feroz" Vargas last year and feels that he is a much improved fighter. With another fight under their belts, Rosado believes that he will improve upon his last fight which was an unanimous decision victory over former champion Joshua Clottey in December.
"It has been a great camp. Fernando is a three time world champion and definitely knows what it takes to get to the top. We have tremendous chemistry and we are looking to put on a great performance on Saturday," said Rosado.
There has been a lot of talk of Rosado possibly facing Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in the near future should he beat Gutierrez. There had previously been rumors of the 30-year-old Rosado facing three time world champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez as well.
When asked who he would prefer to face between the two, Rosado said that he would rather go up in weight than down.
"I would probably prefer Chavez because of the weight. I would rather go up. I would rather not go down to 155 to fight Canelo but I would love to fight Canelo - but at 160," Rosado told BoxingScene.com.
