WBA "regular" heavyweight champion Alexander Povetkin is busting up his sparring partners, as he prepares to defend his title against WBO cruiserweight king Marco Huck on February 25th in Stuttgart, Germany. Huck challenged Povetkin last year and promised the local Germany public that he plans to snatch the heavyweight crown. Huck will be the underdog on paper, but a heavy favorite to among the arena fans. Povetkin is not one to take unnecesary chances. He wants to knock Huck out.
Povetkin's manager Vladimir Hryunov said the following - "Alexander continues to systematically prepare for his battle with Marco Huck and now he is sparring in Chekhov. Yesterday another American sparring partner suffered an injury - he suffered a broken nose. I think the same thing will happen with Huck. Yesterday, Alexander worked with his fifth sparring partner, and on Friday the sixth arrives. All of the sparring partners are American."
The manager said Povetkin will "travel to Germany on February 20."
An Olympic gold medal winner, Povetkin has a pro record of 23-0, 16KOs, and Huck has one defeat in 35 fights and 25 of those wins have come by knockout.
