Home Depot Center, Carson, California - Talented prospect Oscar Valdez stopped late replacement Carlos Gonzalez in the fourth round of a scheduled six round bout. Gonzalez (1-3) was a replacement for Jose Morales, who weighed nine pounds above the contract weight of 128 pounds. He hung in there with the 2008 and 2012 Olympian from Mexico, landing an occasional left hook. However, Valdez (4-0, 3 KOs) landed the more telling blows throughout the fight, although he got a little reckless in trading with Gonzalez in the third round. In the fourth, Valdez stunned Gonzalez with a punch and followed up with a barrage of punches. Gonzalez tried to cover up with his back against the ropes, but referee Tony Crebs decided to step in and save him from further punishment at 58 seconds.

Heavyweight Andy Ruiz, Jr. stopped overmatched Matthew Greer in the first round of a scheduled eight round bout. Ruiz (18-0, 12 KOs) sized Greer up early, but was on the attack thereafter. Ruiz, who has dropped a considerable amount of weight recently, used his speed & boxing ability to keep Greer on the defensive. A barrage of punches dropped Greer (15-10, 13 KOs) halfway through the round. Greer got up, and tried to protect himself whenever he sensed Ruiz was going to the body. Another barrage of punches put Greer down a second time in the round. Greer got up and tried to fight back, but could not keep Ruiz off of him. Towards the end of the round, Ruiz landed a chopping right hand to the head, dropping Greer to a knee. Referee Jack Reiss stopped the bout at 2:53

Featherweight Gabino Saenz scored a one-punch knockout victory over Cesar Valenzuela in the second round of a scheduled six round bout. The taller Valenzuela (4-2-1, 2 KOs) tried to keep the more-aggressive Saenz on the end of his jab and right hand. However, Saenz was able to land more punches over the top, whether it be a hook or a right hand. At times, the action was sloppy as both held onto one another. In the second round, Saenz (9-0-1, 8 KOs) dropped Valenzuela with a barrage of punches to the head. Saenz went in for the kill, trying to land one big punch, leaving himself to get countered by Valenzuela. As Valenzuela tried to jab, Saenz landed a hard right cross to the head, dropping him onto his back on the canvas. Referee Tony Crebs immediately waved the fight over at 2:02.

In a minor upset, featherweight Victor Sanchez stopped Ramon Valadez in the first round of a scheduled six round bout. The southpaw Sanchez (4-5-1, 1 KO) is not known for his power and was more than likely brought in as an opponent for the favored Valadez. However, Sanchez dropped Valadez with two left punches to the head. True to any fight he has fought in, Valadez (11-4, 6 KOs) got up and tried to fight back instead of holding. He was able to get shots in, but Sanchez wobbled Valadez with a right hook to the head. Valadez backed up against the ropes with Sanchez following up. When it was clear Valadez was not able to protect himself, referee Jack Reiss stepped in and stopped the bout at 2:39.

Rising featherweight Jessie Magdaleno stopped Carlos Fulgencio in the third round of a scheduled eight round bout. The southpaw Magdaleno (14-0, 10 KOs) was too quick for Fulgencio, moving in and out to land straight left hands and right hooks. Magdaleno dropped Fulgencio in the first round with a double right hook to the head. Magdaleno would go in for the kill, but would leave himself open to getting countered. Magdaleno dropped Fulgencio again in the second round with another right hook to the head and finally ended matters in the third round with a right uppercut to the head of Fulgencio (18-10-1, 12 KOs). Referee Tony Crebs saw enough and stopped the fight at 45 seconds.

Amateur standout from Lithuania Egidijus Kavalauskas won a one-sided four round unanimous decision over Eridanni Quintero. Both fighters were making their professional debuts, but Kavalauskas looked like the fighter with a bright future in the sport. He landed the harder and more telling blows throughout the fight, while any offense Quintero mounted was snuffed out by a hard left hook to the head or body. Kavalauskas pressed the action, stunning Quintero at times, but was not able to get a knockdown. All three judges scored the bout 40-36 for Kavalauskas, who is trained by Robert Garcia in Oxnard.
