Interim WBC junior middleweight champion Brian Mendoza (22-2) has been on a roll as of late.

If things continue go his way, he will pick up his third big win in a row on October 15th when he faces WBO junior middleweight champion Tim Tszyu (23-0) in his native country of Australia.

Mendoza, who is trained by world class trainer Ismael Salas, entered his previous two fights as a substantial underdog and scored upset knockout victories over former champions Jeison Rosario and Sebastian Fundora.

The 29-year-old Cuban-American cannot wait to fight on foreign soil.

“I am very excited to go to Australia to fight for the WBO belt. It’s always been a dream of mine to be a real world champion, traveling all over to win new belts and defend them as well. I feel like everything has fallen into place for me and nothing can stop me from bringing that new belt home,” said Mendoza.

Tszyu is listed as a -410 favorite by FanDuel and will also enter the fight coming off of multiple impressive performances.

In March, he stopped former unified champion, Tony Harrison in nine rounds and followed up that up with a first round knockout win over Carlos Ocampo in June.

While Mendoza respects his opponent, he believes that his skill set combined with his tenacity, will prove to be something completely different than Tszyu has ever seen.

“I think he’s a good fighter and it’s going to be a tough fight but I feel like I bring a few things to the table that he hasn’t seen before and that will make the difference come fight night for me to come out victorious,” Mendoza told BoxingScene.com.
