Showtime Sports head Stephen Espinoza will soon begin discussions with Floyd Mayweather Jr. for his planned retirement fight on September 12th, presumably at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Although he will earn over $200 million from the Pacquiao victory, Mayweather is still focused on fighting once more in the fall.

In recent weeks, he's made it clear to reporters that September 12 will be the final fight of his professional career. Just about everyone expects him to return to the ring at least one more time, to notch win number 50.

The frontrunner to get the Mayweather opportunity is Amir Khan, who faces Chris Algieri in a Premier Boxing Champions main event on Spike TV next Friday at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

"Floyd has continued to tell us that he intends to fight September 12 and that it will be the last fight of his career. So we are beginning the very preliminary preparations for exactly that. We will be getting into discussions about an opponent for him very quickly. We will look to ride the momentum of this event and capitalize on the fact that Floyd has now distinguished himself as the fighter of his era," Espinoza told Multi Channel News.
