Manny Pacquiao described himself as in “ongoing negotiations” regarding a rematch with Floyd Mayweather.
The welterweight returned to the ring in July when he drew with the WBC champion Mario Barrios, and it has since been reported that, 11 years after losing to his great rival in the richest fight in history, they are on course to fight again in 2026.
The Philippines’ Pacquiao is 46 and Mayweather, who has not fought as a professional since 2017, is 48, but, according to Pacquiao, they could well feature in another main event in Las Vegas.
“I’m open [to the rematch with Mayweather] and there’s an ongoing negotiation,” he said. “I am speaking [to my team] every day. If that negotiation goes well and the fight materialises, then we will announce the rematch.
“It’s a very interesting fight. Right now I don’t have a shoulder problem, so it’s a good fight. I am sure the world of boxing will be excited if the rematch can be made.
“I feel like we are almost in agreement with each other. There are a lot of things we agree on, but there are just a few conditions we are still negotiating. If the fight happens, it will probably happen in Las Vegas.”
