Retired five division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (49-0, 26KOs) believes Amir Khan will attempt to replicate his strategy against Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez on May 7th from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Khan (31-3, 19KOs) stunned everyone a week ago when he announced that he was moving up by eight pounds to challenge Canelo (46-1-1, 32KOs) for his WBC middleweight title at a catch-weight of 155-pounds.

Mayweather faced Canelo in 2013 at a catch-weight of 152-pounds. He dominated Canelo over twelve rounds, handing the Mexican superstar his first and only loss as a pro.

Khan admitted that he studied Mayweather's win over Canelo - and that fight, among others, convinced him that Canelo's size and strength can be nullified.

Mayweather has his doubts. Both Mayweather and Khan are fast, but Mayweather has a lot more experience and was able to use his unbreakable defensive skills to keep Canelo grounded. Canelo is now more seasoned, he won't be cutting down to 152 and Khan will be coming back from a one-year inactivity stint. Canelo usually rehydrates to more than 170-pounds and most believe the size advantage will be too much for Khan to overcome for a twelve full rounds.

"I think that's the reason he took the fight with Canelo because he thinks he's going to be able to the same thing I did but it's completely different," Mayweather stated in a fan interview session during his UK media tour.

"Canelo is young; he's very strong and he's very big. I had so much experience at the top level and I've been in there with some many styles and strong guys. I know how to make adjustments and any style."
