In a very odd twist, former five division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. has lashed out for several days at UFC champion Conor McGregor.

A few short weeks ago, Mayweather complained that McGregor was using his name and he warned him - and others - to stop piggybacking on his legacy. Mayweather retired from the sport of boxing in September 2015.

But in the last few days, Mayweather has been verbally blasting McGregor in interviews and several videos on his social networks.

A few weeks ago, McGregor obtained a boxing license to compete in the state of California, which Mayweather’s camp labelled a “con job,” and an attempt to increase his fanbase. McGregor failed in his attempt to obtain a boxing license in Nevada - which would have allowed him to box in Las Vegas.

Earlier in November, McGregor set his terms for the potential bout, telling Mayweather that he wants “$100 million cash to fight you under boxing rules.”

“I don’t fight in California. What did he get a license in California for? .... I’m [going to] tell you like this, he’s blowing smoke up everybody’s a**. He don’t really want to fight because I went to his boss. He don’t really want to fight. He’s just doing that to keep his name alive, you know what I’m saying, to stay relevant. He don’t really want to fight. He’s doing that building his followers, but he’s smart," Mayweather told Fighthype.com.

And then Mayweather made several videos. In one of them, he ridiculed McGregor for tapping out earlier this year in his loss to Nate Diaz. He stated McGregor "quit like a bitch."

In a separate video, Mayweather said he would physically attack McGregor if they ran into each other.

“I don’t give a f*** what night it was, I ain’t never taking no L. I’m f***ing McGregor up too. Punk-a** McGregor… I’m gonna slap McGregor. I’m gonna slap the s**t out of McGregor when I see him,” Mayweather said.

Mayweather then made another video where he offered fans a $10,000 prize for the best caption of McGregor tapping out to Diaz.
