Trainer Luis Barrera, the man behind Lucas Matthysse (34-2, 32KOs), says his boxer is more than just a puncher. Matthysse faces WBC/WBA junior welterweight champion Danny Garcia (26-0, 16KOs) on September 14th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Garcia and his father/trainer Angel Garcia believe Matthysse is nothing more than a big puncher with little to no boxing ability. The Matthysse-Garcia match will be the co-feature to the big Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Saul Alvarez showdown.
"Everyone thinks that Lucas is only a puncher, but I think he is one of the best boxers in the world. He is more of a boxer-puncher," Barrera said. " We are going to win. We are prepared to fight for twelve rounds, but if Danny comes to fight us like he did against Erik Morales - Lucas is going to find him and send him to the canvas."
"Danny has a heavy hand but we are well prepared physically and we are preparing to fight. You have to train hard to get to Las Vegas and win."
