Marcos “Chino” Maidana not only became a world champion again in a second weight division, he also took Adrien Broner’s zero from his loss column as he defeated him over 12 rounds this past Saturday night.

This is arguably the biggest victory of Maidana’s career as he pulled off the huge upset over his heavily favored rival. There have been reports of Broner wanting an immediate rematch and Maidana is ready to give it to him if he wants it.

Boxingscene asked Maidana if he’d be willing to give Broner a second chance or if he’d like to move to bigger opportunities.

“I don’t know. A rematch or whatever. Maybe a bigger fight. The truth is I’m ready for anybody” said Maidana.

A bigger opportunity that would equal even more money than a Broner rematch would be a fight with the sports number one fighter Floyd Mayweather. Some wondered out loud if with this victory, if Maidana put himself on the list of possible opponents for Mayweather down the line.

“I would love that fight. I would love that fight. I’m ready for any fighter. I think Mayweather is much more complicated [than Broner] but there’s no problem. There’s a way to get to every fighter” Maidana would tell BoxingScene.

Golden Boy’s Richard Schaefer informed there was no rematch clause but Maidana’s manager Sebastian Contursi informed me there was a clause in the contract. While both men’s statements conflict, it seems both fighters are willing to do it one more time regardless.

If a rematch doesn’t happen, there are plenty of opportunities for Maidana to explore and try to capitalize on this big victory.
