WBO super featherweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko (7-1, 5 KOs) explained that he wasn't serious when he posted a social media message that called out UFC superstar Conor McGregor.

The two-time Olympic gold medal winner, who many regard as the best amateur fighter in history, said he was only joking around.

Lomachenko is a big fan of McGregor and would like to have a sparring session with him to show him some of the ropes when it comes to actual boxing.

For the last few months, the hot topic has been a potential cross sports fight between McGregor and retired former five division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (49-0, 26 KOs).

Both athletes are very interested in facing each other in a boxing ring. McGregor, who never had a professional fight as a boxer, is a massive underdog with the critics and the oddsmakers.

While Lomachenko would like to help McGregor get more familiar with some boxing basics, he admits that he wouldn't be much help in a training camp setting - because his fighting style is very different from Mayweather's.

"If we make a sparring session, it would be great for him because I could show him some boxing skills," Lomachenko told BoxingScene.com. "I like McGregor, he is a very funny guy, he is very smart for this business and to help for the fight with Mayweather, I don't think [I would be much help], because I have another style [in comparison to Mayweather]."

As far as actually fighting McGregor in a boxing match, Lomachenko is confident that he would have no issues in winning such a fight.

"Of course [I would beat McGregor in a boxing match], no problem," Lomachenko said.
