IBF middleweight champion David Lemieux is finishing up his training camp for what will be the biggest fight of his career when he faces WBA/IBO/WBC interim middleweight champion Gennady "Triple G" Golovkin on October 17th at the Madison Square Garden in New York.  The fight is nearly sold out and will be distributed on pay-per-view by HBO.

"Training camp has been at it's best.  Just like it is going to be at the fight. It has gone very well. I am training very hard for this fight and I am making sure I do what I gotta do to bring all these belts back," said a confident Lemieux.

The 26-year-old is very excited to fight on such a large stage. Most of the bigger fights in New York in recent memory have featured fighters from Puerto Rican like Miguel Cotto and Felix Trinidad or heavyweights like Wladimir Klitschko.  Lemieux said that he is very grateful for the support he and Golovkin are receiving.

"It is amazing.  It feels good.  I worked very hard to get to this place and now that we are here I am going to make sure I don't miss my opportunity.  It is with non-local guys selling out the Madison Square Garden.  The people know it is a big fight. They know when Golovkin and Lemieux meet in the ring it is going to be knockout power," Lemieux stated.

Golovkin has had trouble getting big fights and the fight versus Lemieux will be the first time that he has a chance to unify titles.  Lemieux said that he didn't hesitate to accept the fight and said that he knew this clash of big punchers would come to fruition sooner or later.

Lemieux is so confident in his abilities that he feels after the Golovkin fight, he will be the one who is avoided.

"The motivation was that coming soon in the near future not too many people are going to want to face David Lemieux.  I am very confident in my abilities.  After I won the fight against N'Dam I got a very good offer and got it very fast and I said, 'sure.'  I knew even before that that this fight would happen in the very near future.  It just happened a lot faster than I though and we accepted it and we are ready for it," revealed Lemieux.

The Montreal native said that he and his team, Eye of the Tiger Management and Golden Boy Promotions have great chemistry and that he is thrilled with the way they have moved his career in the relatively short amount of time that they have been together.

"I am very pleased to be with Golden Boy and I am sure they are please to be with me.  I think together with Eye of the Tiger Management there is no limit.  This fight will allow us to put a big mark in boxing. We have had a lot of success with N'Dam and now with Golovkin.  I am very confident to go into this fight with a team like this behind me," Lemieux told BoxingScene.com.
