Former junior welterweight champion Amir Khan (26-3, 18KOs) is still hungry to get revenge on WBC/WBA 140-pound champion Danny Garcia (25-0, 16KOs). On July 14th, Khan had won the first two rounds of his fight with Garcia, but at the end of the third he was caught by a huge left hook and never fully recovered. After three knockdowns, the referee finally waved things off at 2:28 of the fourth.
Khan returns to the ring on December 15th at the LA Sports Arena in California. At the other end of the ring will be undefeated contender Carlos Molina (17-0-1, 7KOs). If Khan defeats Molina, he doesn't plan to go forward with a scheduled move to the welterweight division. Instead, Khan will remain at 140 in order to pursue a grudge rematch with Garcia.
"I'm going to stay 140 [to secure] this fight with Danny Garcia. I know that I'm a better fighter than him. In that fight we made a mistake and I had to pay for it. I know the one mistake I made and that's why I really want to make that fight happen again. Will Garcia take [the fight] again... I don't think he will. Maybe it's a blessing in disguise. If I would have won that fight I wouldn't be with [new trainer] Virgil [Hunter]. Things happen for a reason, but I really want that fight with Garcia," Khan told BoxingScene.com.
