MGM Grand, Las Vegas - Former champion Amir Khan (28-3, 19KOs) is looking forward to his next return, which is being penciled in for December 7th in the United States. Golden Boy Promotions is staging an internal junior welterweight tournament. On May 18th, Lucas Matthysse (33-2, 31KOs) will face IBF champion Lamont Peterson (31-1-1, 16KOs). The winner of the match will take on WBC/WBA junior welterweight champion Danny Garcia (26-0, 16KOs) on September 7th - and the winner of that match will be positioned to face Khan.

Khan believes Peterson will beat Matthysse, and beat Garcia in September - which is going to set up the long awaited rematch with Khan. Peterson won a controversial split decision over Khan in december of 2011. A rematch was set for May 19th of last year, and later canceled, after Peterson tested positive for synthetic testosterone.

"I think Peterson will beat Matthysse. I will be at the fight as well because [my younger brother] Haroon is fighting on the [undercard]. And I really believe Peterson will beat Garcia as well [in September]," Khan told BoxingScene.com.
