Manager Ralph Heredia revealed that he intends to have a meeting with his star fighter, featherweight contender Joseph 'JoJo' Diaz, to evaluate his future weight class.
Along with a group of specialists, they will decide if Diaz can stay at 126 pounds or if it's time to go up to 130.
Last week, Diaz was unable to make the featherweight limit for his scheduled battle with WBA "regular" champion Jesus Rojas.
The bout with Rojas still went ahead as expected, and Diaz won a twelve round unanimous decision, but because of his inability to make weight Rojas was able to walk away with his title.
"A lot of people criticized 'JoJo' without knowing the facts, this is the first time where he couldn't make the weight and sincerely it was not his fault, simply his body could not take off any more," Heredia explained to ESPN Deportes.
"Today it is premature to say if he stays at 126 or goes to 130 pounds. We will talk with the team, with him, with the nutritionist. I do not think he will go back the featherweight, but if he stays [in that weight class, he will stay] with the idea that I do not want what happened to happen."
According to Heredia, Joseph's victory was invaluable, since only 50 percent of his abilities were seen in the ring - as his boxer struggled to make weight for the contest with Rojas.
"When a boy is growing up, you do not know if he can make the weight or not until it's time to make that weight or a day prior. I can tell you that one day prior his body could not give any more, but becuase he has a big heart and he feels a lot of respect for his profession and for the fans, he tried to make the weight - but he could not," said Heredia.
