Floyd Schofield is to fight Joseph Diaz Jnr on the undercard of Vergil Ortiz Jnr-Erickson Lubin on November 8.

Ortiz Jnr and Lubin contest the former’s WBC junior-middleweight title at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, and by the time they do so Schofield and Diaz Jnr will have fought at lightweight, where they are scheduled to share 10 rounds.

“This fight with ‘JoJo’ Diaz has been brewing for many years, and I’m excited to get into the ring and repeat what I did when I faced Tevin Farmer,” Schofield said. “I am ready, and I am putting in the work to show the world that I am ready to be world champion.

“I want to thank Golden Boy, Davies Entertainment and DAZN for the opportunity to come back on a card in my home state.”

“Every challenge is an opportunity, and stepping into the ring against ‘Kid Austin’ is no different,” said Diaz Jnr, 32. “I’m thankful to God for allowing me to do what I love.

“I’m ready to leave it all in the ring and showcase the hard work I’ve put in. Texas, get ready for a fight that electrifies.”

“This will be an all-out Texas showdown featuring some of the sport’s top fighters, highlighted by the return of Floyd Schofield as he takes on a tremendous challenge against veteran JoJo Diaz,” said Golden Boy’s Oscar De La Hoya.

There will also, on the same promotion, be a fight over 10 rounds at super middleweight between Darius Fulghum and David Stevens.
