Former four division world champion Jorge Arce says the youth and hard punching of Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (45-1-1, 32 KOs) will pay dividends when he challenges WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (40-4, 33 KOs) of Puerto Rico.

The HBO televised fight is scheduled to take place on November 21st from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

Arce felt Canelo was match too quickly against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in September 2013. Canelo was dominated over twelve rounds. Canelo made an enormous payday in the fight and it generated 2.2 million pay-per-view purchases - the third largest buyrate in pay-per-view history, with Mayweather vs. De La Hoya and Mayweather vs. Pacquiao as the only two events above it.

With Cotto, Arce says his countryman is taking the fight at the perfect time. The fight was in talks two times in the past and fell through for financial reasons. The third round of negotiations was the charm.

"I think right now Canelo is ready for Miguel Cotto. It will be a very interesting fight because while Cotto is no longer in his prime, he has tremendous experience and strength. On the other hand, Canelo is on the rise and hits hard, in addition to being fast. It will be a fight between experience and youth," Arce said.

"For me, with all due respect, Canelo is a young fighter who is strong and in his prime. He's moving very fast [with his career and it's] made him a good fighter. But I believe that he was thrown in too fast against Mayweather."
