NEW YORK – Now that he has taken care of Gerald Washington, Jarrell Miller wants to destroy Dillian Whyte.

Miller called out Whyte during a post-fight press conference following his technical knockout victory over Washington on Saturday night at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The 6-feet-4, 298-pound Miller wore down the 6-6, 248-pound Washington (18-2-1, 12 KOs) until Washington’s trainer, John Pullman, stopped the fight after the eighth round on the Mikey Garcia-Adrien Broner undercard.

England’s Whyte (20-1, 15 KOs) and Brooklyn’s Miller (19-0-1, 17 KOs) have been talking trash to one another for months. A bout between them would represent a tough test for each heavyweight contender as he tries to land a title shot.

“Yeah, nobody did ask me about Dillian Whyte,” Miller said in response to a question about boxing Whyte. “He’s so ugly. First of all – I’m trying to be nice right now – that fight with him and Chisora, he lost that fight. And then he tried to fight Michael Grant. And, you know, he’s an older brother, nowhere near his prime, and that fight didn’t go through. And Michael Grant had a fight before that fell through because he wasn’t in tip-top shape, older guy.

“So, you know, I don’t think he really wanna fight me. I think he’s looking for an easy fight in his American debut. But Dillian Whyte can get the work. He can get the work. Dillian Whyte can get smashed. I like my English muffins and I’ve got a toaster for it. So if he wanna get it, we’re gonna cook him, too.”

The Jamaican-born, London-based Whyte is expected to make his debut in the United States on August 19, on the Terence Crawford-Julius Indongo undercard in Lincoln, Nebraska. As Miller mentioned, Eddie Hearn, Whyte’s promoter, tried to match Whyte against faded former contender Michael Grant (48-7, 36 KOs), who’ll turn 45 on Friday and hasn’t won a fight in nearly six years.

Public resistance to the Whyte-Grant mismatch has led Hearn to seek another opponent for Whyte. The 29-year-old Whyte hasn’t fought since he edged Dereck Chisora (26-7, 18 KOs) by split decision in a 12-round, action-packed slugfest December 10 at 02 Arena in London.
