Derek Chisora and his team are weighing up their options ahead of his December 13 farewell in Manchester, England, with old rival Dillian Whyte now under consideration after Jarrell Miller fell out of favor. BoxingScene understands that a final decision on Chisora’s opponent will be made in the coming days.

Whyte, 31-4 (21 KOs), scored two thrilling victories over Chisora in 2016 (SD 12) and 2018 (KO 11) but his form has plummeted since. Though he avenged a 2020 loss to Alexander Povetkin, he was outclassed by Tyson Fury two years later and, after three unconvincing comeback wins, the 37-year-old looked vulnerable while being taken out inside a round by Moses Itauma in August.

A third bout with the 36-13 (23 KOs) Chisora does make sense, however. It is believed that the 41-year-old’s team are keen to reward the warhorse with a notable final outing against an opponent who is unlikely to make it a particularly painful goodbye. Though Chisora is on a three-fight win streak, neither he nor Whyte are the same fighters who tore into each other in the previous decade.

It was reported by SunSport Thursday that a contest with Whyte had already been agreed, with a little help from Chisora’s former opponent and manager, David Haye. “[Chisora] is excited,” said Haye. “He wants to have his final fight be against a guy who’s beaten him twice.”

Chisora was unlucky to not get the nod over Whyte following their first slugfest and was ahead on the cards before being clocked in their return. Though BoxingScene understands that Queensberry are weighing up the public appeal of a third Chisora-Whyte contest before moving ahead with negotiations, Haye insisted the deal is done. “I think it’s a 50/50 deal, 60 goes to the winner, 40 goes to the loser," he said. "Crack on, easy, easy fight to make. There’s no complications.”

Miller will hope to complicate matters, however. The American, 26-1-2 (22 KOs), has been inactive since posting a 12-round draw with Andy Ruiz 14 months ago but is planning to make his presence felt in the UK this weekend when Fabio Wardley and Joseph Parker collide inside the O2 Arena in London. The 37-year-old pulled out of a date with Wardley in the summer and Chisora this week stated he had no desire to face him.
