EBU super middleweight champion George Groves has advised Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (31-0, 28KOs) to move down to junior middleweight. He sees very little for Golovkin to accomplish at 160, stating that a move to super middleweight would result in less "money" fights. Groves, who sparred in the past with Golovkin, would like to see him fight WBC/WBA 154-pound champion Floyd Mayweather Jr.
"I'd love to see it [Mayweather-Golovkin]," Groves told Sky Sports. "When I went out to train with him and hazarded a guess, it would've been that he goes down, rather than up - and maybe there are bigger fights if he moves down. There’s [Miguel] Cotto, [Saúl] Alvarez and Mayweather or [Manny] Pacquiao... so many names in and around the light-middleweight division and so many great fights that can be made."
"I think Gennady can lose a bit more weight because he is so comfortable at middleweight. I don't think he's the biggest middleweight out there. He's in shape; he boxes so regularly he is always in shape."
