Abel Sanchez, trainer of WBA/IBO/IBF/WBC middleweight champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (35-0, 32KOs), says his boxer would have gladly accepted a fight with Daniel Jacobs (31-1, 28KOs) for September 10th - but claims Jacobs wants no part of his boxer.

Jacobs, as holder of the WBA's 'regular' middleweight title at 160-pounds, is technically the mandatory challenger to Golovkin's 'super' title.

The sanctioning body is eliminating the current scenario where there are multiple WBA champions in several divisions. To accomplish that, the WBA has been ordering numerous mandatory fights between their 'super' and regular' champions.  At the middleweight limit, the WBA has yet to order a Golovkin vs. Jacobs clash.

Golovkin returns on September 10th at the O2 Arena in London against IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook, who moves up by 13-pounds. A lot of critics, and fans, have come down very hard on the matchup. They believe the contest is a physical mismatch and fear the outcome will be similar to Canelo Alavrez's brutal knockout of Amir Khan in May. Khan moved up by eight pounds for that match.

Golovkin was negotiating for weeks to fight Chris Eubank Jr. That fight fell apart after Eubank was unable to reach a deal with his own promoter. A deal was quickly made with Brook to avoid losing the September 10th date on HBO.

Sanchez believes any middleweight out there would have been tagged as just as big of an underdog as Brook.

"Is there a middleweight out there that stands any better chance than Kell Brook does? Any middleweight out there would be an underdog like Kell is. Give me a middleweight that deserves a chance more than Kell Brook?," Sanchez said to BoxingScene.com.

Regarding Jacobs, the outspoken trainer says the Brooklyn-based fighter has never pressed the issue to fight Golovkin and instead took a rematch with Sergio Mora in the fall.

"Danny Jacobs, he'd rather fight Mora. Danny doesn't want to fight Golovkin. We can't sit around and wait for someone to want to fight us," Sanchez said.
