World Boxing AssociationmMiddleweight champion Gennady Golovkin requested a special permit, with the WBA, to defend his title against Curtis Stevens on November 2 at The Theater in New York's Madison Square Garden. Golovkin needed permission from the sanctioning body to move forward with an optional fight before he makes his mandatory defense against the official challenger Martin Murray.
The boxer from Kazakstan, who is undefeated in 27 fights and scored 24 KOs, has been the champion since August 2010 and expects a very interesting fight with the powerful Stevens who has a record of 25-3, 18 KO´s. Murray has been out of the ring since a close April decision loss to WBC champion Sergio Martinez.
