Former IBF super featherweight champion Gervonta Davis is finally scheduled to return to the ring.

Davis (19-0, 18 KOs), 23-years-old, is back on April 21 from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. At the moment his opponent has not been finalized for what is going to be a Showtime televised co-feature.

The main event that night will feature the return of  four division world champion Adrien Broner (33-3, 24 KOs), who faces undefeated former world champion Omar Figueroa (27-0-1, 19 KOs) in a WBC super lightweight final eliminator.

Davis had a mixed bag of tricks in 2017.

He captured the IBF junior lightweight title with a knockout victory over undefeated José Pedraza on January 14 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Showtime. The fight would take place as an undercard fight to the super middleweight world title unification fight between James Degale and Badou Jack.

Davis would travel to London, England for his first title defence against mandatory challenger Liam Walsh. The fight took place on May 20. Davis struggled to make the 130-pound limit, but Davis blew away Smith in three rounds of action.

Davis would not be as lucky in August, when he was featured in the co-main event of the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Conor McGregor pay-per-view from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

He was unable to make weight for a scheduled fight with unbeaten prospect Francisco Fonseca, who at the time was ranked number 7 by the IBF. Davis would secure the stoppage win in the eight round.

Following that victory, Davis went through a legal issue where someone claimed the boxer had knocked him out during a gym scuffle in Baltimore. The case eventually got dismissed.

"Young people make mistakes but the greats learn from it," Davis said.

The unbeaten boxer has promised to make big statement in his upcoming fight to show he is still one the best young fighters in the sport.

I believe I'm the most skillful young guy that's fighting on TV right now and in 2018, I want to show it," Davis said.
