Angel Garcia, the father and trainer of WBC/WBA junior welterweight champion Danny Garcia (27-0, 16KOs), has no problem with a match between his son and pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr. (45-0, 26KOs). Both of the boxers saw action on Saturday night before a sold out crowd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
At a catch-weight of 152-pounds, Mayweather dominated Saul "Canelo" Alvarez over twelve rounds to capture the WBC/WBA titles at junior middleweight. Mayweather is also the WBC champion at 147-pounds. In the co-feature, Danny Garcia retained his titles with a very impressive twelve round decision over feared puncher Lucas Matthysse.
"If that was to happen [a fight between Garcia and Mayweather], I would call it the 'holy war.' It would be the holy war, because it would be two gifted fighters, spiritual fighters, that God put on this earth to fight. They are both blessed. Danny is blessed and Floyd is blessed," Angel said.
