Tyson Fury set up a potential pre-Christmas showdown with Deontay Wilder with a win to keep up his undefeated record.
The former unified world heavyweight champion, who beat Wladimir Klitschko back in November 2015 to claim the WBO, IBF, WBA Super, IBO and Ring Magazine titles in Dusseldorf, Germany, made his second appearance on the comeback roadshow in Belfast.
Fury came back in June from a 924-day period of exile, exclusively live on BT Sport, when his blown-up cruiserweight opponent Sefer Seferi retired after four rounds at Manchester Arena.
But on the same platform on Saturday night, the man who beat the man took on Francesco Pianeta and dominated the German-based Italian former world title over ten rounds at Windsor Park to setup a showdown with the WBC champion Wilder.
The pair met in the ring after the fight and talked up a potential showdown, though Boxing Scene understands nothing is confirmed at this stage.
Las Vegas on a date in November seems to be about as much as we know regarding the contest at the moment and further details are set to be revealed in due course.
“This man (Wilder) has been trying to make a big fight with the other chump (Anthony Joshua), the biggest sh*thouse in boxing," Fury said.
“They called, I answered. I said send me the contract, they sent me the contract, I said yes and now he gets his chance to fight me.”
Promoter Frank Warren said that the fight will be officially confirmed next week.
“The fight is on and all will be revealed next week,” Warren said afterwards, before Fury said that he would take the WBC belt from Wilder and “defend it right here in Belfast.”
Meanwhile, in the live float contest, knockout king Lewis Crocker was extended to points for the first time in his career by William Warburton, but the 21-year-old still got the win to remain undefeated and moved to 7-0 after having his hand raised with a 60 points to 54 margin.
