Tyson Fury claimed the British and Commonwealth heavyweight titles from Dereck Chisora after 12 brutal rounds at Wembley Arena on Saturday. Fury was awarded a unanimous verdict by margins of 118-111 and 117-112 (twice) on the judges' scorecards over an opponent who had raised eyebrows at Friday's weigh-in when he tipped the scales at a career-high of 261-pounds.

Chisora therefore headed into the fight almost half a stone heavier than Fury, to whom he also gave up eight inches in height. The extra weight certainly appeared a factor as the champion seemed to run out of steam in the middle of the contest after shaking his opponent in the second. Chisora then staged a thrilling but desperate - and ultimately futile - rally in the championship rounds.

"I might well have finished him and I'm not one to make excuses, but my hand is hurt and I don't tell any lies about that. I hit him with some good punches. I hit him with body shots, I hit him with head shots and wobbled him a few times. I think I could have finished him if my hand wasn't hurt, but then again it's about twelve round boxing," Fury said.
