On Monday, retired former super middleweight champion Carl Froch released his top ten pound-for-pound list.

Many pundits credit WBC flyweight champion Roman 'Chocolatito' Gonzalez with being the top pound-for-pound fighter in the sport. Gonzalez will be going for his fourth divisional title next month when he faces WBC super flyweight champion Carlos Cuadras on September 10th in Los Angeles.

Froch listed WBA/WBC/IBF/IBO middleweight champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin in the number eight position and many felt the ranking was a bit too low. He ranks fighters like Tyson Fury and Canelo Alvarez above Golovkin.

Although Golovkin has knocked his last 22 opponents and continues to dominate his division - Froch is far from impressed. He says Golovkin never beaten anyone of note to justify a top five pound-for-pound position.

Froch is tired of hearing stories of Golovkin busting up top names in the gym. He wants to see him do it in the ring. Froch and Golovkin were in talks to face each other last year. The fight fell out after Froch retired from the sport.

"For all the talk of fighting from 154-168-pounds, Triple G just hasn't fought anyone to justify his lofty place for me. I've literally never heard of some of his recent victims - it's a shame there isn't a prime Kelly Pavlik or Jermaine Taylor at 160-pounds nowadays. Even the early 160-pound Arthur Abraham or the pre-Pavlik Edison Miranda would have took it to him and then we could gauge him," Froch told Sky Sports.

"He's looked great in all his outings, but it's opponents we need to see and not just hear gym stories. I don't think he'll run through Kell Brook like many others are saying at all. I also think Billy Joe Saunders and Chris Eubank Jr would give him a fight."
