WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr., and his opponent Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero, were tested for performance enhancing drugs on April 3rd and both boxers came up negative for prohibited substances, according to Keith Kizer, the Executive Director for the Nevada State Athletic Commission. Additionally, Kizer indicates that both boxers were well below the state required 6-1 testosterone to epitestosterone ratio (T/E).
The tests were conducted by the NSAC. Mayweather (43-0, 26KOs) faces Guerrero (31-1-1, 18KOs) on May 4th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Both fighters are taking part in a random drug testing program being run by USADA.
Also tested on April 3rd was undefeated super featherweight contender Mickey Bey (18-0, 9KOs), who also came up clean and had a normal T/E ratio. Bey was recently suspended in the aftermath of his knockout victory on February 2 at The Cosmopolitan. Bey's post-fight drug test showed a T/E ratio of 30-1. He was later fined $1,000 of his $8,000 purse and suspend for three months (retroactive from the date of his fight).
