EBU super middleweight champion Piotr Wilczewski of Poland is confident of being able to beat Olympic gold medal winner James DeGale in his backyard of London. The fight takes place in September, and the entire UK scene will have their eyes glued on the fight to see how DeGale performs after suffering the first loss of his career, which came earlier this year by way of a close decision to domestic rival George Groves. Even though the fight is taking place on DeGale's backyard, he expects to have the crowd on his side.
"I am coming to London with my belts and I want to leave London with my belts. I am not here to give them away. It's my first time in England and I hope that this fight will make my name bigger outside of Poland and give me the opportunity to fight for a world title," Piotr Wilczewski told skysports.com through a translator.
"I will win, but whether it's on points or via a knockout, it's too early to say. There will be a lot Polish fans there. This fight will be advertised in Poland and to the Polish community here in London. I guarantee that there will be more fans cheering for me in the arena on the night than him because there are more Polish people in England than back in Poland!"
