It’s been several years since he was last seen throwing a punch, but Britain’s first ever Olympic gold medalist to become a world champion, James DeGale, will see action again.
DeGale has been matched in a BKFC bout against Australian Matty Floyd in Manchester on September 27.
The 2008 Beijing Olympian has not fought since a wide decision loss to Chris Eubank Jnr in 2019 at London’s O2 Arena.
By that point, the 39-year-old had split two fights with Caleb Truax, drawn with Badou Jack, defeated Lucian Bute, Andre Dirrell and Brandon Gonzalez. His boxing record is 25-3-1 (15 KOs).
Floyd recently swapped punches with veteran Hall of Famer Shane Mosley in London.
“UK I’m back,” wrote DeGale on social media. “Everyone asking what version you’re getting… 7 years out, body healed, mind sharp – it’s the best one yet. Demolition job pending.”
“This fight is just another easy fight for me,” said the Australian.
