Former two division world champion David Haye (27-2, 25KOs) is hoping to get in the ring this year with unbeaten Olympic gold medal winner Anthony Joshua (15-0, 15KOs).

After a layoff of three and a half years, Haye returned to the ring last Saturday night with a first round destruction of Australian Mark De Mori at the O2 Arena in London.

Haye's return puts him right in the mix for major domestic fights against Joshua and WBO/WBA/IBO heavyweight champion Tyson Fury. The Hayemaker sees Joshua as being the bigger opportunity of the two.

Joshua was last in the ring in December, when he knocked out his amateur rival Dillian Whyte in seven rounds. He will return to the ring on an April date.

Haye wants to get back in the ring as soon as possible and he could very well hit the ring as early as March.

"I want to get back in there (the ring) as soon as possible,' Haye told the Hawksbee and Jacobs show on talkSPORT. "I want the big fights. A fight with Anthony Joshua is what the fans want – I want to fight who the fans want me to fight. That's the fight I want and I'm sure Anthony Joshua wants the same thing. Hopefully he realizes you have to fight who the fans want you to fight."

Joshua is younger, stronger and much bigger. Haye is confident that his power and speed will be more than enough to get the job done.

"I've had some big British clashes and fought the best opponents around who the fans wanted me to fight, so hopefully he is cut from the same cloth and wants these big showdowns as well. Although, it will be a very risky fight for him at this stage in his career – I understand that, he's only had 15 fights," Haye said.

"I'm a lot older than he is but if he feels that he is up to the task then he has a solid challenge for him. I believe my speed and power will negate his superior size, youth and strength.'
