IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (36-0, 25KOs) is feeling a lot of confidence and motivation ahead of the biggest fight of his professional career.
On September 10th at the O2 Arena in London, Brook will head up by thirteen pounds to challenge Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (35-0, 32KOs) for the IBF, IBO, WBC and WBA middleweight world titles.
Golovkin, who is making his ring debut on UK soil, has blasted out two well known and well liked British fighters in recent years - Martin Murray and Matthew Macklin.
Golovkin has knocked out his last 22 opponents. Only Murray has been able to last until the eleventh round and he took a lot of punishment along the way. Brook has been tabbed as a huge underdog, but he believes that he's got enough power to knock Golovkin out.
“People are so in fear of Golovkin before they get in the ring with him. But you will see when the bell rings that’s not the same for me. You have to be crazy to be a fighter to start with but I’ve stared death in the eyes... this is just fun to me," Brook said.
“He’s a man like all of us. I’ve trained unbelievably well for this fight. I’m very fit, durable and strong – and I’m a better boxer than him. I’m faster. I might not have the same one-punch power as him but I can definitely knock any man out if I hit them on the chin.”
“I’m very confident. If I stick to my game plan and box the perfect fight, I’ve won this fight. You are going to see it. This fight has put a smile on my face. All those doubters said I was running scared, didn’t want the tough fights – this shows I do. I’m only after those top names now.”
