LOS ANGELES, California. - Former world champion Antonio Margarito is putting the finishing touches on his training camp for his expected return to May 8 in Aguascalientes. The lanky Mexican fighter (37-6, 27 KOs) will face Roberto "The Threat "Garcia (28-2, 21 KOs) in the main event of Latin Fury 14, organized by Top Rank and Zanfer, which will be held at the Plaza de Toros Monumental and transmitted by TV Azteca in Mexico and Pay-Per-View in the United States.

"I am very satisfied with the work being done here and I'm almost ready to climb into the ring," Margarito said after a long training in his camp located north of Los Angeles.

"It's like everything in life when you make changes. There were periods of adjustment, but I felt very comfortable with Robert and all his stable of fighters, "Margarito said.


 
Margarito has not fought since January 24, 2009, when he lost to Shane Mosley.

"I was never away from the gym and I feel that this training camp was very good and be ready to give a great fight in Aguascalientes, "Margarito said.

During his career, a native of Tijuana, Baja California has earned the welterweight title of the World Boxing Organization (WBO) as well as that of the International Boxing Federation (IBF) and the World Boxing Association (WBA), also at the same weight.
 
"I want to be champion and have great and important fights," said Margarito, who counts among his victims Miguel Cotto, Joshua Clottey and Kermit Cintron.
 
Margarito will work in Oxnard, California until Saturday, then travel to his hometown of Tijuana, where on Sunday to take a flight to Aguascalientes for a series of promotional events for the fight that will be on Saturday, May 8.
 
The duel between Margarito and Garcia is agreed upon for 10 rounds at junior middleweight.
