Angel Garcia, father and trainer of WBC/WBA junior welterweight champion Danny Garcia (29-0, 17KOs), feels confident that his son will easily dispatch Lamont Peterson (33-2-1, 17KOs), who holds the IBF's version of the title.
Both champions were in action on Saturday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Garcia demolished Rod Salka in two rounds and Peterson stopped Edgar Santana in ten.
Both Showtime and Golden Boy Promotions are interested in doing a Garcia-Peterson fight next. Last September, Garcia won a twelve round unanimous decision over Lucas Matthysse, who crushed Peterson in three rounds in May of the same year.
"We're not going to run [from Peterson] That's easy. He's just [right] there [in front of you]. He tries to box but he's too scared to box. The thing about Peterson and Matthysse was, Peterson was more scared of getting hit because Matthysse had these 32 knockouts, and anybody can get intimidated by that but you also have to do your history on the fighter. Nothing can intimidate you in life because a man is a man wherever he stands," Angel told BoxingScene.com.
