World Boxing Council Mauricio Sulaiman says his organization will not consider any alternatives with their recent order for the middleweight division - unless the involved parties reach an internal agreement.

Puerto Rico's Miguel Angel Cotto will defend his WBC middleweight title against Mexico's Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez on November 21 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The winner of that fight was been ordered by the WBC to make a mandatory defense against the sanctioning organization's interim champion, Gennay "GGG" Golovkin, who also holds the WBA/IBO/IBF world titles.

There has been talk of a rematch - if the fight lives up to the hype. Canelo's promoter, Oscar De La Hoya of Golden Boy Promotions, recently stated that a fight with Golovkin was possible but not for another 12 to 18 months.

"We can confirm that the winner must face our interim champion, Golovkin. It's a fight that has to happen, the winner can not face someone else."

Sulaiman says the only way the winner can the mandatory obligation is to vacate the title. Should Cotto (40-4, 33 KOs) or Canelo (45-1-1, 32 KOs) vacate that belt, the sanctioning body will name Golovkin as the full WBC champion.
