David Higgins, the manager of former WBO heavyweight Joseph Parker, is threatening to walk away from a showdown with Derek Chisora - unless certain drug testing protocols are put in place.
While not revealing the exact details of their request, Higgins indicates that they want Chisora to commit to WADA sanctioned testing anywhere in the world up to and immediately following the fight.
The contest is being targeted for a date of October 26th at London's O2 Arena, as the co-feature to the World Boxing Super Series clash between junior welterweights Josh Taylor and Regis Prograis.
Higgins has received a formal offer for his boxer to face Chisora, but there were two conditions that he wants in place.
"We've received a formal offer to fight Dereck Chisora on October 26. We have accepted on the condition that two clauses are inserted into the contract," Higgins told The New Zealand Herald.
"One is that Joseph's fight will be no earlier than the penultimate fight on the card, and the other is the drug testing protocols."
And Higgins warns that his boxer will walk away from the fight - unless the drug testing protocols are agreed upon.
"Under the circumstances of those conditions not being met, unfortunately we will have to pull out of the fight," Higgins said.
Parker has been calling for a fight with Chisora for a while. In order to make the contest happen, Parker had to agree to be the B-side of the promotion.
The two boxers were in action in recent months, with Parker battering Alex Leapai for a TKO victory, while Chisora made a big statement when he scored a very brutal knockout victory over Artur Szpilka in two rounds.
